Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a classic
massage therapy
and has been used in many
different cultures ( India, China, Maya, Roman Empire ) for many

based on the concept that stones have the property

How is Hot Stone Massage Therapy practiced?
Stones are
carefully selected.
River stones made of basalt are most desirable because they
are smooth and rich in iron.
The stones are immersed in water and heated in an
electric heating device until they are within a certain
temperature range.
Then the therapist would place the stones at specific points
on the back, in the palms of the hand, between toes, or on
points that are thought to be energy centers of the body.
After the hot stones have relaxed the muscles which allows
the therapist to apply deeper pressure,
the therapist may put down the stones and use his or
her hands to directly massage the skin and direct the energy
flow to different
parts of the body. A
typical hot stone massage takes 60 minutes.
